About this tool

Plan a set of working concentrations from one stock and print it as a bench worksheet. Enter a list of targets or generate a series from a top concentration and a factor. The worksheet shows the stock and diluent volume for every tube, with space for the experiment name, date and initials.

How to use it

  1. Enter the stock concentration and the final volume for each tube.
  2. Enter target concentrations as a list, or generate a series.
  3. Add the experiment details and print, or save as PDF from the print dialog.

Formula f(x)

Each tube is a direct dilution from the stock:

Vstock = Ctarget × Vfinal / Cstock and Vdiluent = Vfinal − Vstock.

Series targets: Ck = Ctop / Fk.

Worked example check your setup

From a 10 mM stock, 1 mL each of 100, 50 and 10 µM needs 10 µL, 5 µL and 1 µL of stock topped up to 1 mL. Volumes under about 2 µL are flagged, because they are hard to pipette accurately. An intermediate dilution is the better choice there.
