This policy explains what personal data Peptide Research Tools (“the site”, “we”, “us”) handles, why, how long it is kept and the choices you have. We collect as little as possible: the calculators work without an account and without sending your inputs to us.
At a glance
- Calculator inputs stay in your browser and are not sent to our server.
- No accounts, no advertising and no tracking or analytics cookies.
- If you contact us, we keep your message only to reply and follow up.
- We never sell personal data, and our sponsor receives none.
Calculator inputs
All calculations run in your web browser. The sequences, masses, volumes and other values you type are not sent to our server and are not stored by us.
If you use Copy link, your inputs are written into the link’s address so the calculation can be reopened later. That link is in your hands: anyone you share it with can see the inputs, and it may be recorded wherever you paste it and in the server logs of this site when it is opened.
Contact form
When you send a message, we collect:
- your name and email address;
- the topic you choose and your message.
The message is emailed to the site team and a copy is stored in the site’s private dashboard, which only administrators can see. We use it to reply, to fix any problem you report and, if you ask, to credit you for a correction. We do not add you to a mailing list or use your details for marketing.
To protect the form from spam, the site briefly counts submissions per IP address and per email address. The counter stores a one-way hash rather than the address itself, and expires after 15 minutes. It is not stored with your message. Messages that look like spam are held for manual review rather than emailed.
Server logs
Like most websites, the server that hosts the site records standard access logs: IP address, date and time, the page requested, the referring page and the browser type. These logs are used to keep the site secure, diagnose faults and handle abuse. They are kept for a limited period and then deleted or overwritten by our hosting provider.
Cookies and similar technologies
The public site does not set advertising, analytics or tracking cookies, and does not store anything in your browser’s local storage. Visitors browse without cookies.
WordPress sets essential login cookies only for site editors who sign in to the dashboard. If we ever add analytics, this page will be updated before it goes live.
Third-party services
- Google Fonts. Typefaces are loaded from Google’s servers, so your browser sends your IP address and browser details to Google when a page loads. See Google’s privacy policy.
- Hosting and email. Our hosting provider stores the site and its logs, and our email provider delivers contact-form messages. They process data on our behalf and only to provide those services.
- External links. References link to sites such as IUPAC, NIST and journal publishers. Their own privacy policies apply once you leave this site.
Embedded calculators
Calculators embedded on other websites behave the same way: inputs stay in the visitor’s browser, and fonts are loaded from Google. The website that embeds a calculator has its own privacy policy, which covers anything else on that page.
Why we use personal data
Where data protection law such as the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on our legitimate interests to answer messages, keep the site secure and prevent spam and abuse. Where you ask us to do something, such as correct a calculation and credit you, we act on your request.
How long we keep it
- Contact messages: for as long as needed to deal with your message and any follow-up, then deleted. You can ask us to delete yours at any time.
- Spam-protection counters: 15 minutes.
- Server logs: a limited period set by our hosting provider.
Sharing
We do not sell, rent or trade personal data. We do not share it with our sponsor or with advertisers. We disclose it only to the service providers described above, or where required by law.
International transfers
Our hosting, email and font providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where that happens, we rely on the safeguards those providers offer, such as standard contractual clauses.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- have it corrected or deleted;
- object to or restrict how we use it;
- receive a copy in a portable format.
To make a request, use the contact page. We will respond within the time the law requires. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
The site is intended for researchers, technicians, students and educators. It is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
Security
The site is served over an encrypted connection, the message dashboard is restricted to administrators, and the contact form checks every submission for spam. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what we hold.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when the way we handle data changes. The date at the top shows the latest revision.

Questions or requests about privacy can be sent through the contact page.
