About this tool

Convert a weighed mass into moles, or a required number of moles into the mass you need to weigh. Enter the molecular weight from a certificate of analysis or from the peptide molecular weight calculator.

How to use it

  1. Choose what to solve for.
  2. Enter the molecular weight in g/mol.
  3. Enter the known quantity and choose its unit.

Formula f(x)

n = m / M and m = n × M

where n is amount in moles, m is mass in grams and M is molar mass in g/mol. Number of molecules N = n × NA, with NA = 6.022 140 76 × 1023 mol−1 (exact).

Worked example check your setup

5 mg of GHK (M = 340.38 g/mol): n = 0.005 g ÷ 340.38 g/mol = 1.469 × 10−5 mol = 14.69 µmol, or about 8.85 × 1018 molecules.
