Mass to weigh

—

About this tool

Find the mass to weigh for a solution of known molarity, the volume that gives a target concentration, or the concentration of a solution you have already made. Any one of the three values can be solved from the other two.

How to use it

  1. Choose what to solve for.
  2. Enter the molecular weight.
  3. Enter the two known values with their units. The solved value appears in the readout and in its field.

Formula f(x)

m = c × V × M

where m is mass (g), c is molar concentration (mol/L), V is volume (L) and M is molar mass (g/mol). Rearranged: c = m / (V × M) and V = m / (c × M).

Worked example check your setup

10 mL of 1 mM GHK (M = 340.38 g/mol): m = 0.001 mol/L × 0.010 L × 340.38 g/mol = 0.003404 g = 3.404 mg.
